Well - what a turn up for the books!! I flew via Frankfurt to Hannover, met the future "outlaws" and had a very pleasant and welcoming stay in Hagenburg. Alas German law didn't permit us to get married within the 2 weeks I had for holiday - so we quickly zotted over to the UK, where Paul & Anne Basson had (many thanks) brought my mum to meet us at Heathrow. Settling in at my mum's place - look at the English heat and sun - in May!!
We found that we could get married in a Registry Office in Slough - which we duly arranged for 15th may, 1971. We didn't have a ring, and as you can see - the Registry office was a bungalow! Paul timed it all - something like 4 mins 25 secs from start to finish!
We then went off to Germany again - where there was a big dinner/reception at a lovely place on the Lake (Steinhude Meer) which Paul and Anne Basson together with Caroline and James Barker raced over (all 4 in one small car) for (thanks again!!). 2005 - Andy Roland has sent this piccie
