I had a couple of weeks before I had to return to the UK (for a very special event..) - so took time out to do ALL the exciting things around Johannesburg (not true - visits down mines were not done during this time) but...
Up the Hertzog Tower was available!! Hillbrow with its tower in the left distance, to its right will be Braamfontein and some of the Centre, to the right of which is a swathe of flat land (Railway Reserve) and to the right of that - more of the Centre. The second piccie is to the right of the first aimed at the second part of Central.
This is
even further round to the right, looking down on Mayfair (where Laura and her
parents lived) and just beyond - one of the many mine-dumps.

(out of focus) think the three big buildings must be (l to r) Tollman Towers,
forgotten the name of the really big thing and then The President Hotel (good
place!!).
